Hawaiian Hawkfish
The Cirrhitops fasciatus or Hawaiian Hawkfish can be found near the islands of Japan and Madagascar, but are more commonplace aournd the Hawaiian Islands. Growing to a length of 5 inches, it requires adequate room to graze. While safe to corals, it may bother some shrimp and crabs. Also known as the Blood Red Hawfisk, it is best suited to a fish only tank with larger tankmates. It will perch on the rocks/corals and dive after food with the same fluid motions as the bird it was named for. A very hardy aquarium fish, it will accept most meat based prepared foods, even flake foods. Be sure to also supplement with vitamin solutions to help maintain its bright colors.
