Harlequin Basslet
Harlequin Basslet,Serranus tigrinus, is an active fish with unique coloration that is best kept one per aquarium. Growing to only three to four inches in length, it is a fish of appropriate size for all but the smallest of aquariums. Harmful to some smaller fish and ornamental fish, the Harlequin Basslet is attractive and hardy. If more than one is to be present in the same aquarium, it is recommended to introduce them at the same time. The Harlequin Basslet spends it time swimming actively and also digging in the substrate using its elongated snout. Its marbled body and yellow shadowing from the nose along the lower side of the body add to the attractiveness of this Western Atlantic native. As a carnivore, it readily accepts meaty meals including Brine Shrimp and frozen prepared foods.
