Hairy Finger Leather
Hairy Finger Leather Coral, Sinularia sp., is one of the more uncommon “furry” varieties of Finger Leather. It adds diversity in texture and appearance to the mini-reef aquarium. As with other Leather Corals, Hairy Finger Leather is a coral that requires a high amount of lighting, but should do fine with a medium water flow. Its placement should be in the middle or lower levels of the aquarium. Attractive and relatively easy to maintain, Hairy Finger Leather is a great choice for beginning reef aquarists. The standard variety is a brown on pink color while the green will shows tints of greens, depending on lighting and overall aquarium conditions. As it grows, it may encroach upon and damage other corals with which in comes in contact. Hairy Finger Leather will benefit from feedings of any supplement designed for filter feeders. Iodine and strontium will help ensure its continued health.
