Green Snake

American Green snakes, (Opheodrys aestivus / Opheodrys vernalis), are native to Eastern North America from the Great Lakes southward through Northeastern Mexico. Rough Green Snakes have keeled scales giving them a rough appearance and are mainly arboreal. Smooth Green Snakes have smooth dorsal scales giving them a smooth appearance and are ground dwellers that prefer damp habitats close to water. These snakes are active during the day with their peak at dusk.
