Green Mandarin Goby
Green Mandarin Goby, Synchiropus splendidus, is a member of the Dragonet subfamily of fish. Survival of any member of this family is dependent on a well-established reef aquarium with a great deal of Live Rock and Live Sand. The specially-formed mouth of the Green Mandarin is designed to pluck microbial organisms from the rock to satisfy its carnivorous diet requirements. Brine Shrimp, Blood Worms, and Black Worms should all be accepted by Mandarins. Dry and pellet foods might not be accepted, even after becoming accustomed to aquarium life. Males have an elongated dorsal spine when compared to females. Males in the same aquarium are likely to be territorial and may bicker. The paisley coloration of this little beauty is a definite attraction to aquarists. For any aquarist who is willing to learn about the needs of the Mandarin and who is willing to put the right effort into providing the special needs of this fish, the reward is great. The Green Mandarin Goby is a truly unique and astoundingly beautiful fish.
