Green Lace Gorgonian
(Pterogorgia citrina) or Green Lace Gorgonian is photosynthetic, and will require proper lighting in order for it to remain healthy. It does not require extreme lighting, but will benefit from VHO or Power Compact lighting. Standard fluorescent lighting is not appropriate for this item. Due to the extra care required for this item, it should not be housed in anything but a mature reef tank, and mature is defined in this case as a tank set up fully with rock and marine life for no less than one year. Photosynthetic Gorgonians are much easier to deal with than the non photosynthetic type, and this item would make a good first Gorgonian for an aquarist to work with. It is critical that this organism be placed in an area of high water flow in an aquarium to keep it free of algae growth as well as well as other nuisance growth. If algae does take hold, it must be removed immediately and this can be accomplished using a small, soft brush such as a brand new unused soft toothbrush.
Anchoring this gorgonian to a small piece of live rock so that it can stand up in a tank will make positioning it in areas of high water flow much easier.
