Goldrim Tang
The Goldrim Tang is found in the literature under Acanthurus glaucopareius and Acanthurus nigricans and comes from the pan-Pacific Ocean. A. nigricans refers to a white cheek tang which is very similar and often confused with the Goldrim. In the wild it can obtain 8 inches in length and should therefore be housed in an aquarium of at least 75 gallons. Listed as a "generally reef safe" fish. If under fed it may pick at large polyped corals. The aquarium diet should be supplemented with zucchini, broccoli and spinach, along with vegetable-based prepared foods. It should not be kept with other aggressive Tangs and should be provided with several "bolt" holes to feel secure. A relatively hardy aquarium fish, like most Tangs it should be quarantined for 2 to 3 weeks before being placed in the display aquarium.
