Gold Dust Molly
The Gold Dust Molly is a beautiful color morph contrast of gold and black. The wild version, Poecilia sphenops, of this Molly is found in Mexico and Central America. This particular Molly is ideal for the intermediate aquarist because he is a peaceful community safe fish and moderately hardy. In captivity they will grow up to 2.5 inches (6 cm) in length. The ideal conditions for the Gold Dust Molly are a minimum of a ten gallon tank with a water temperature of 64-83º F (18-28º C). This fish is an herbivore and as an extra plus he also eats algae. It is best to keep one male to every two females when keeping this fish, as the males will tend to chase the females to exhaustion if it is a ratio of one to one. This Molly is compatible with community fish, and will make a good tank mate for a more peaceful tank.
