Glass Catfish
Glass Catfish Kryptopterus bicirrhis is one of the most unique fish available to aquarium hobbyists. The structure of this clear creature is completely visible, offering it a great means of camouflage against potential predators in the wild. Single specimens do not do well and groupings of four or more at a minimum should be kept. Growing to typically around 3.5 inches in the home aquarium, it is not particular about food but has a definite penchant for foods such as Bloodworms and Tubifex Worms. Glass Catfish should be introduced into established aquarium systems only with clean, well-aerated water. Though the water should have some movement, It also prefers a great deal of cover. Taller, spindlier Freshwater Plants including members of the Vallisneria family (Italian Val, Corkscrew Val) provide a great place for a school of Glass Cats to hover.
Approximate Arrival Size for Glass Catfish: 1.5 to 2.5 in.
