The Frontosa Cichlid, Cyphotilapia frontosa, is endemic to the African rift lake Tanganyika. Like other freshwater fish from the rift lakes, aquarium water should be buffered to a specific pH level. For Tanganyikan Cichlids this range is 7.4 to 9.4 and several products are available to handle this requirement. Frontosa shipped may be of 6 bar or 7 bar variety. If one is preferred over the other, please let us know when ordering and we will do our best. C. frontosa has a carnivorous diet made up of small fish and invertebrates. When spawning, females carry the young in their mouth. All captive raised cichlids offered by Pet Solutions are first generation offspring (F1) from wild caught stock. This allows us to offer the brightest colored cichlids available.
