These little geckos are very fast and are excellent escape artists, so the habitat they are to be housed in must be very secure. This gecko is not a pet to hold, it is a pet to be viewed in a display. The Flame crested gecko gets its name from a colored stripe down its back which goes from head to base of its tail. This marking becomes more obvious as the animal grows. The crested gecko is primarily a carnivore, eating crickets, waxworms, and mealworms but two to three times each week some fruity baby food should be offered. Peach flavor is typically recommended. This gecko is nocturnal, so it is best fed and viewed at night.
