Flagtail Prochilodus
Scientific Name: Semaprochilodus insignis
Recommended Aquarium: 75+ Gallons
Approx. Adult Size: 12 inches
Temperament: Semi-Aggressive
Ease of Care: Easy
Diet: Herbivore
Native Waters: South America
This shoaling fish will do well in a large group of at least 7 fish, but if a smaller group of these fish are placed together then there may be aggression. Due to the adult size of this fish being in the one foot or larger adult size range when it matures, it will need to be kept only with other fish that get larger and are not overly aggressive such as Silver Dollars. The Flagtail Prochilodus is considered an omnivore but in the home aquarium it will be a feeder of opportunity, and will eat what it can find in the aquarium. For best results, an herbivore diet should be offered.
