This sturdy rock is excellent for use as the bottom layer when building rock structure for a reef aquarium. The more dense consistency of this rock means that it will handle the weight of many more pounds of higher quality and more colorful rock stacked on top of it. Once in an aquarium, combined with other rock, it will begin to pick up the properties of the new rock including coralline algae and micro organism reproduction, of the conditions are ideal.
Fiji Base Rock makes a perfect rock for decorating a fish only saltwater aquarium, as it makes for a very natural appearance as well as adding beneficial surface area on which bacteria can colonize. This style of fish keeping is often called a “FOWLR” aquarium, meaning Fish Only With Live Rock.
To ensure the safety and well-being of aquarium inhabitants, Live Rock must be cured again prior to placement in any aquarium that houses fish, corals, or invertebrates.
