Exquisite Fairy Wrasse

Exquisite Fairy Wrasse, Cirrhilabrus exquisitus, is an African native with one of the most extravagant color schemes of all fish available to the home aquarist today. The base body color is green. Aside from that fact, almost any other color arrangement can be found. Typically in variations of blue, orange, pink, purple, red, and yellow. Hardy and long-lived once established, this carnivore adapts to aquarium life when offered a wide variety of meaty foods such as Brine Shrimp and zooplankton. Reaching each a mature size of 5 inches and, typically, 3 to 4 inches in captivity, the Exquisite Fairy Wrasse is highly recommended for a reef aquarium. A sand bed and Live Rock should be provided for all Fairy Wrasses. They will bury themselves in the sand to sleep or hide. Live Rock provides numerous small life forms that the Wrasses consider a tasty treat as well as being another place to hide when they feel threatened. Being “leapers", Fairy Wrasses require a covered aquarium.
