Dwarf Gourami (Male)
Dwarf Gourami, Colisa lalia, is a peaceful, somewhat shy, yet beautiful fish whose visual and personality rewards outweigh the precautions necessary to ensure an appropriate environment. The Dwarf Gourami enjoys clean, well-lighted water. Its inhabitants must not be overly aggressive or have the propensity to nip the ventral filaments of the Gourami. This fish has been considered an aquarium treasure for more than a century. It is said that this fish is even kept in aquariums in its native homeland of India, something considered unusual for indigenous species from any part of the world. Normally not exceeding two inches in length, the Dwarf Gourami will eat most any dried, frozen, or live food. Live food - brine shrimp, tubifex worms, and bloodworms - will help keep this fish, the males in particular, in peak coloration.
