Diamond Goby
Diamond Goby, Valenciennea puellaris, is a colorful, peaceful, sand-sifting addition to the reef aquarium. Also known as the Pretty Prawn or Maiden Goby, it can grow to around 6 inches, making itself a useful cleaner. The Diamond Goby is a long-lived aquarium inhabitant whose only downside is a tendency to be aggressive toward its own kind. Being a carnivore, its diet of items sifted from the substrate should be supplemented with frequent feedings of Brine Shrimp and other carnivore preparations. More than one should only be introduced in larger aquariums where each can establish its own territory. A few inches of soft substrate must be provided to allow the Goby to establish its own territory.
