Kingsnakes are one of the most beautiful snakes found in captivity as pets. In the wild kingsnakes are known to eat rodents, birds, lizards, and other snakes including rattlesnakes. In captivity mice of the appropriate size are generally the standard food for this snake. As with any snake a tightly closing habitat is a must, since they can easily escape through a very small hole. Nearly all kingsnakes and milksnakes in the pet industry are bred in captivity, so they are very durable and easy to care for. A loose bedding such as Desert Snow is an excellent substrate for young snakes.
