Crayfish
Crayfish look like a mini lobster growing to about 3” as an adult. You may also have heard them referred to as Crawfish or Crawdads. The Crayfish, Decapoda, can be found throughout the world and come in a variety of colors: Sandy yellow, green, white, pink or dark brown. They are mainly nocturnal creatures but can be active during the day. The best aquatic environment for a crayfish is at least a ten gallon tank with water temps. Ranging from 40° to 75° F. These shy critters like their tank to have lots of hiding places. They are not community safe or inter-species compatible because they can be semi-aggressive. Crayfish are easy keepers considering they will eat just about anything! For example: large flake fish food, shrimp pellets, cut up potatoes, and carrots. Occasionally, you should feed egg shells to help the crayfish after the molting process which supplies needed calcium to help harden their exoskeleton.
