Colored Angler
Colored anglers (Antennarius sp.) are skilled predators that use a clever ambush tactic to lure their pray in close where they can gulp it down whole. These ambush hunters use a device called an esca to tempt potential pray in close enough to eat them. The esca looks like a small fish, and the angler can wiggle it to make it more appealing. Typically having live foods available to feed this fish is the best option, and will help it settle into the home aquarium with more success. Freshwater mollies bred to salt water, and feeder shrimp are good options for this fish.
Anglers are eating machines which can and will eat absolutely anything they can fit into their mouths and they have very large mouths. These fish should not be kept in a tank with smaller fish or invertebrates, and they will be happiest in a tank with a lot of live rock for cover so that they can feel protected.
