Chilean Rose Hair Tarantula
Chilean Rose Hair Tarantulas (Grammostola rosea) are the most common pet tarantulas. They are hardy, docile and are the ultimate beginner’s spider. They are native to the scrublands and deserts of Chile and northern surrounding countries. They are terrestrial and found in shallow burrows under logs and other natural debris. All Tarantulas are venomous to a certain extent and some can flick irritating hairs. Some people may be more sensitive or allergic to these substances, making it dangerous to care for Tarantulas without using proper precautions. Gloves and eye protection should be worn when cleaning cages or handling this spider. It is important to note that tarantulas shed while laying on their backs, and during that time they are vulnerable to being chewed on by crickets. When a tarantula is on its back molting, it is very important to remove all feeder insects from the habitat.
