Chalk Basslet
Chalk Basslet,Serranus tortugarum, is an outstanding reef fish that is great for aquarists of all experience levels. This hardy fish does fine as either a single specimen for a smaller aquarium or a number of them for a larger aquarium. If more than one are to be present in the same aquarium, it is recommended to introduce them at the same time. This Western Atlantic native lives in waters ranging from Southern Florida to the reefs of the Caribbean. In addition to durability and compatibility, the coloration of the Chalk Basslet makes it a desirable fish: orange body, purple midsection, and vivid blue bars. As a carnivore, it readily accepts meaty meals including Brine Shrimp and frozen prepared foods.
