Celebes Rainbow
The Celebes Rainbow, Marosatherina ladigesi, is a lively schooling fish, which always makes a great addition to the community tank. As the name states the Celebes originated in Celebes, but also in Sulawesi, Indonesia and the Philippines. Best suited for the beginner aquarist this Rainbow is a peaceful and moderately hardy fish. At adulthood he will grow to a length of 3”. The ideal conditions are with other peaceful fish in a 20 gallon tank with a water temperature range of 75-80° F (24-27° C). The males and females vary in color; however, the male displays more color and have an extended second dorsal and anal fin. These colors are intensified in natural lighting. The Celebes is an omnivore eating small pieces of prepared flakes, algae, or live foods, such as bloodworm and brine shrimp. It also enjoys frozen daphnia.
