Catalina Goby
Catalina Goby, Lythrypnus dalli, is a great aquarium choice for the non-aggressive, community aquarium - either fish-only or reef. Also known as the Blue Banded Goby, this fish displays no aggression toward other fish, corals, or invertebrates, but care should be taken to ensure that other species do not pick on it. With a maximum length of between 2 and 3 inches, its size makes it perfect for large and for small aquariums. Groups of Catalina Gobies typically do fine, especially if given plenty of room. It has a vivid red-orange color with purple stripes and purple markings around the eyes. This species has a somewhat elongated dorsal ray fin that many other Goby family members also display. It will accept a variety of foods including Brine Shrimp and bloodworms, and will typically accept flake food fairly easily.
This fish does not do well in warm water. It is considerd a cool water fish. It will not do well in temperatures over 72 degrees F.
