This anemone is usually found at depths of 30-40 meters and does not rely on photosynthesis for growth. Instead it uses it multiple tentacles to sting and trap small plankton and then direct it towards its oral disc. The Strawberry Carnation will have a reddish/pink coloration. This anemone can sting other anemones and corals, so care should be taken when placing it in the minireef. It is not considered a hosting anemone, though some Clown species might adapt to it.
