California Kingsnake
California Kingsnakes (Lampropeltis getulus californiae) are native to the Western United States and into Mexico. They are found in a wide variety of habitats and eat a wide variety of prey including snakes, lizards, amphibians, birds and rodents. Kingsnakes are well known for their tail rattling behaviors and their ability to consume Rattlesnakes. These snakes come in a variety of different color patterns and have become one of the most commonly kept snakes in captivity. Because they consider other snakes as possible prey, they should be housed singly.
