Lotus

Lotus are slow growers and may be fairly unimpressive when first introduced to a pond, but once the plants have a chance to take hold and expand the leaves are very attractive and the blooms are stunning. Lotus have been around for a very long time and are typically thought of as a symbol of peace and tranquility. They are represented in religious drawings of many Eastern cultures. Lotus blooms close at night once they start blooming, and the blooms will last several days before disappearing to bloom again some other day.
