These arboreal lizards are native to the forests of New Caledonia. They become active at night when they emerge from their hiding places to feed. The Crested Gecko's unique appearance combined with its ease of care makes it an excellent pet. These lizards can be housed in groups with little territorial disputes or aggression.

Lighting: Specialized reptile lights for viewing nocturnal animals would be a good choice for night. A basking light utilized during the day and turned off at night will keep the temperature in the proper range and allow for the required temperature drop at night.
Temperature range: Day 72°- 78°F Night 69°- 74°F
Food: Crickets, waxworms, and mealworms coated in calcium and vitamin powder. Their diet should be supplemented with peach baby food a couple of times a week. We recommend feeding in a separate container without substrate to prevent accidental ingestion of the substrate.
Water: A shallow dish of clean water should always be available.
Housing/Habitat: An aquarium equipped with an under tank heating pad, with aspen, jungle mix, orchid bark or reptile turf as a substrate. Landscape to simulate a tropical forest with plenty of climbing area and hiding places. It is important to mist the substrate beneath the hiding places to keep it slightly damp and provide some extra humidity.
