Despite its similarity of appearance to brackish and saltwater gobies, the Purple Spotted Gudgeon is strictly a freshwater species. Earth worms, black worms, insects, and meaty frozen foods are recommended. This fish breeds easily in captivity, and is very territorial about protecting its eggs, even more so than it usually is when it is not in protective parent mode.
