Aquarium UV Sterilizers

UV stands for ultraviolet, so a UV sterilizer uses ultraviolet light inside of a specialized housing with a bulb inside to help clear up potential problems in aquariums and ponds. A UV sterilizer in an aquarium is primarily used for killing parasites as they pass through it, helping to protect the fish from dangerous parasitic infestations which can harm them. Usually in an aquarium more flow is better when referring to water pumps, but that is not the case with a UV sterilizer. Be sure to check the maximum flow rating of the unit, and use a pump rated below that level.
