Aquarium Phosphate Removal Media
Phosphate is a big contributor to the algae problem that many aquarists experience. Phosphate removal media is very effective at reducing phosphate levels in an aquarium if used properly. Often this media must be used in conjunction with water changes using RO or DI purified water in order to get the phosphate to reach zero. Tap water often contains some level of Phosphate and it can contribute to the problem rather than helping to clear it out. Phosban, Phos-X, and Phos-Zorb are all commonly used products for this purpose and sometimes are used with a phosphate reactor.
