The Penn Plax Cascade Aquarium Canister Filter is designed to be both simple-to-use and provide maximum filtration for your aquarium. Utilizing a series of internal media trays, you can obtain mechanical and chemical filtration with the use of the included floss pads and carbon pouch. The coarse sponge material will provide surface area for biological filtration. The trays are spacious enough to allow you to add other types of media to customize your filtration to match your needs. The motor head has an integrated O-ring and uses 4 large locking clamps to secure a water tight fit. The Cascade Aquarium Canister Filter includes quick-disconnect tubing connectors that also can act as a flow rate control system. The inlet/outlet nozzles rotate to allow you to adjust the angle of the tubing to fit the desired space. Includes a spray bar and a jet nozzle outlet to allow you to choose the best option for your aquarium. All of the models, including the Cascade 1000 Aquarium Canister Filter, have a simple, push down self-priming button that makes starting easy.

Great filter!!!

Pros:
Keeps a 75 gal tank clean with 2 YB turtles in it . Turtles are 2 yrs old so about 7 to 8 inches long. We remove our turtles in a seperate container for hour or so for feeding and that helps too. We want another filter for our 50 gal

Cascade 700

Pros:
Good Affordable Canister Filter
Cons:
Long intake tube
Got this as a supplement to my Fluval 306. The 700 comes with two baskets, 1 foam, 2 fine foam, and flexible output options (spray bar and jet). Very easy to prime, only take a few quick pumps. I had this set up within 15 minutes and it has enough room for my media. I like that you can also adjust the flow via the quick disconnect valve. The only con is the intake tube is long, almost touching my sand base. I could pull it up (which I did) but now the tube sticks out. It's really an aesthetic issue as it does not affect the suberb performance of the filter.

I have a 700 on a 46G tank, a 1000 on a 55 and a 1000 on a saltwater 1000 tank. All filter very well with good water flow. Very quiet, easy to use. Priming it takes just a minute.

Pros:
Cons:
I run the Cascade 1500 for my 90 gal tank. Noise level is zero, it sits in the cabinet under the tank. Excess noise during the first 3-5 days of priming and operating due to air build up in the pump house. After the water pressurizes the air moves out of the filter. Massive media space within the Cascade 1500. Water pressure is high even after 2 years. Zero leaks. Very efficient at utilizing the media within the baskets and keeping the water crystal clear.
