The newest Fluval Aquarium Canister Filters 06 series offers unique features to ensure reliable operation, maximum efficiency, minimum noise and trouble-free maintenance. The ultimate multi-stage aquarium filter comes with an improved self-priming system that requires a simple pumping motion that initiates water flow, without the requirement of manual siphoning. It contains a media chamber that is specifically designed to maximize the canister volume in each model and to offer versatility in media selection and maintenance. Each aquarium filter comes complete with media pre-packed into the baskets, including the foam blocks for mechanical/biological filtration, Bio-max pre-filter media for mechanical filtration, and carbon for chemical filtration. You can customize your filtration by adding a variety of media in combination with the Fluval Media Module partitions included with the aquarium filter. Additional features consist of the unitized hose assembly, recessed seal ring, ceramic impeller shaft, aqua-stop hose shut-offs, adjustable outlet adapter and twin foam filter screens. Includes Fluval Carbon, Fluval Bio-Max Ceramic Rings and Fluval Foam.

I have the 306 filtering my 55 gallon saltwater setup. Couldn't be happier with this filter. Keeps my water crystal clear and has plenty of space for different types of media. Been using it for nearly a year now and have not had a single issue with it. Highly recommended

LOVE this Canister Filter

Pros:
East set up, quiet, customizable, easy clean
Cons:
Where to hide it
I have a 46g bow front tank that I had an HOB on & got frustrated because it seemed as the filter pad was falling apart every other week. In Nov. 2012 I bought the Fluval 306, finally got it set up in early Dec. & I LOVE IT!!! It was so easy to put together, its quiet, the flow is adjustable, it's easy to take a part to clean the filter media, I can change up the filter media to meet my needs, the tank looks so much more open & brighter. I will always use a canister for a larger tank from now on.

Pros:
Easy to set up, & does every thing I hope it would do.
Cons:
Haven't found any yet.
I have had a 204 series for a few years on my 38gal tank and have been very pleased with it, so when it came time to replace the hang-on tank filters on my 75gal tank the first place I turn to look was here, but I will say I also looked at other's as well but did go with the 406 series, it's been on my 75gal for 3 months now and have no regrets and would recommend this to anyone who is looking for a new filter.

Great canister filter

Pros:
Good filter
Cons:
white intake and output fittings, prefer black - easier to blend in the background
Got this filter for my 37 gal planted as a complement to my existing Fluval C4 HOB. I ditched the carbon media and added more Bio-Max and nylon pot scrubbers for additional biological filtration. Just 48 hrs of it running, water is noticeably clear and a quick inspection inside the canister and it's already loaded with fish/plant junk. The flow is excellent, creates good movement on the surface for gas exchange and overall water circulation. It can be adjusted using the aquastop valve which is a neat feature - filter maintenance is easy to do. The seal is very tight, I have to put a little extra pull to get the top off but that's how canister filters are, tight seal. Very happy with this and should've gotten it earlier.

Great filter!

Pros:
Easy set up for a beginner
Cons:
none
This is our first canister filter (a 206) and we're VERY pleased. We're running it on a 10G tank that we raise our baby Mystery Snails in. The tank is severely overloaded with biomass, but this filter keeps it crystal clear. Took about two weeks to get cycled nicely (on an existing tank) and it's been perfect since then. Let it go FAR too long without maintaining it, but cleaned it easily at it went right back to work.
