Angelfish & Discus
Freshwater angelfish and Discus are both South American natives which prefer slightly acidic water conditions. Captive bred discus are selectively bred for color, and are available in a variety of colors with interesting names like Pigeon Blood. Small discus do have some color, but they do not stunning color until reaching adult size. Freshwater angelfish will show similar coloration as juveniles as they do when they grow to adult size. These fish are relatively shy, but may attack very small fish if not well fed a variety of frozen and dry foods.
