Bumble Bee Hermit Crab

Bumble Bee Hermit Crab is an anomaly that is not an actual species. As occurs naturally in the wild (and in the home aquarium), these little hermit crabs were in search of a new home. They have “evicted” the Bumble Bee Snail that lived within these shells and have taken residence in its former home. Because these crabs vary in actual species, some may be strictly herbivore and some omnivore. Regardless, these little guys are colorful, attractive aquarium additions that will spend their time climbing across Live Rock and the substrate in search of their next meal. This species must molt in order to grow. Generally at night, it will leave its shell home, lie on its back, and exit its exoskeleton. A new exoskeleton is excreted and will harden over a period of several hours. The animal is vulnerable at this time and should not be disturbed. Proper iodine levels assist with successful molting.

Please note: These are aquatic saltwater hermit crabs. They must be kept in an aquarium filled with salt water. They are not pet land hermit crabs.
