Brazilian Rainbow Boa
Widespread throughout South America, these ground dwelling snakes inhabit rain forest areas where they are usually found close to water. Brazilian Rainbow boas (Epicrates cenchria) are most active at dusk and dawn. They are called Rainbow Boas because they microscopic ridges on their scales that act like prisms to refract light into rainbow. They are primarily nocturnal creatures, sleeping during the day and prowling at night.
