Also called the Globe Urchin, the Tuxedo Urchin gets its name from the "formal” look of its short spines with bars of blue-black bands. Its diet consists of all types of algae, included green hair algae. While it wanders the tank looking for food, it may accidentally knock over small Live Rock or corals, so be sure to secure the rock formations. It is not unusual for this urchin to carry bits of rock, snail shells and even algae as an “umbrella” to disguise its shape. It reportedly may harm Tree Corals and other Soft Corals.
