The Blue Stripe Grouper can be found in large groupings on the outer reef slopes, or in shallow lagoons. Juvenile Blue Stripes can often be found in sea grass beds, lurking for prey. Their diet consists of smaller fish, shrimp, crabs, plankton and even some algae. In the aquarium it can be fed a mix of small live foods and frozen meaty foods like Krill, Clam and Squid. The body is bright yellow with horizontal neon-blue stripes, giving this Grouper a striking presence. While non-aggressive towards other fish too small to eat, care should be taken to provide open areas for swimming and rockwork to retreatinto during rest periods.
