This larger cousin of the C. viridis, blue-green Chromis is distinguishable by a distinctive black dot on the axil of the pectoral fins. It is often found above Starhorn corals on the fore reef, or in clear lagoons. It prefers a diet of copepods and amphipods but will readily accept prepared meaty and algae based foods in the home aquarium. To help prevent intraspecies aggression, it is best to keep this Chromis in groups of 4 or more. The Blue Green Reef Fish is fairly active and should be given a fair amount of open space in which to swim, and coral/rockwork in which to hide when threatened.
