Blue Acropora

Acropora, (Acropora sp)., are found in a variety of shapes but are most commonly seen in the traditional elongated branch form. It is a hermatypic (reef-building) coral that forms large structures in the wild. It requires high lighting levels and high water flow. Depending on the individual aquarium characteristics (lighting, water flow), it may do fine at any level of the aquarium. Blue Acropora will come in many different variations, some blue tips, some solid blue, and anywhere in between. This coral should not be considered by beginners, and should only be brought into a well established and aged aquarium owned by an intermediate or advanced hobbyist.

With proper water conditions, which include carefully monitored calcium levels with the addition of strontium, members of the Acropora family grow very quickly. Acropora will benefit from feedings of any supplement designed for filter feeders, but it is primarily a photosynthetic coral.
