Bloodfin Tetra
Scientific Name: Aphyocharax rubripinnis
Recommended Aquarium: 10+ Gallons
Approx. Adult Size: 2 inches
Temperament: Peaceful
Ease of Care: Easy
Diet: Omnivore
Native Waters: South America
With bright coloration of blood-red fins and shiny steely-silver sides, this fish uses a tremendous amount of energy and, therefore, requires frequent feedings. Though it is important not to overfeed, the Bloodfin Tetra is fortunately not particular about the type of food it is fed; dry, frozen, and live foods are all eagerly accepted. Attaining a typical size of no more than two inches, this South American Tetra does best in slightly acid water of a temperature around 75 degrees.
