Blonde Naso Tang

Found in the Red Sea and Indo-Pacific, the Naso lituratus commonly known as the Blonde Tang or Blonde Naso Tang, is definitely an aquarium favorite. An active swimmer, it should be provided with plenty of open swimming space and still have a few hiding places within the rock. Although fairly peaceful, it may be somewhat aggressive toward its own kind and similar Tangs. The spine that gives the Tangs their name is permanently erect on the Blonde Tang, so care should always be taken to avoid injury. Sometimes difficult to adapt to prepared foods, it requires a vegetable based diet supplemented with zucchini, broccoli and spirulina. Live brine shrimp and brown macroalgae should help the Blonde Naso to begin eating in its new environment. It is generally considered a "reef safe" fish, but may bother Large Polyped Stony Corals.

Approximate Arrival Size for Naso Tang: Small: 2 to 3 in.; Medium: 3.5 to 4.5 in.; Large: 5 to 6 in.; X-Large: 6.5 to 7.5 in.; XXLarge: 8 to 8.5 in.
