Black Calvus Cichlid
The Black Calvus Cichlid, Altolamprologus calvus, is endemic to the African rift lake Tanganyika. Like other freshwater fish from the rift lakes, aquarium water should be buffered to a specific pH level. For Tanganyikan Cichlids this range is 7.4 to 9.4 and several products are available to handle this requirement. A. calvus has a carnivorous diet made of small fish and crustaceans. When a mated pair is ready for breeding a cave should be provided that only the female can enter. Females are the smallest of the pair and are substrate brooders. All captive raised cichlids offered by Pet Solutions are first generation offspring (F1) from wild caught stock. This allows us to offer the brightest colored cichlids available.
