Black Blenny
The Black Blenny (Atrosalarias fuscus) needs an established tank with plenty of rockwork to do well. This fish is an herbivore, and as such it will do well if placed in a tank that has plenty of micro algae or hair algae to eat in addition to being fed commercial herbivore foods. It should be noted that this fish may tend to nip at some small coral polyps, but is generally considered to be reef safe. This fish may be aggressive toward others of its own kind, and is best kept without other Black Blennies in the tank. If two are to be kept together, they should be introduced at the same time.
Even though this fish only gets to be an adult size of about 4 inches, a tank of at least 60 gallons is recommended in order to supply the fish with enough of a supply of fresh micro algae to eat. The fish can be kept in a tank as small as 30 gallons, but that is less than ideal.
Approximate arrival size: Small 1 to 2 inches; medium 2 to 3 inches; large 3 to 4 inches
