Banana Plant
Banana Plants, Nymphoides aquatica, are a long-time favorite in aquatic gardens. The tuberous root structure of Banana Plants is unique to say the least. Resembling a bunch of bananas these roots will send up lily pad shaped growth on a regular basis. The plant has gathered a number of common names including; Banana Lily, Fairy Water Lily, and Floating Heart. Banana Plants prefer slightly acidic water, but are otherwise flexible in regards to water conditions. Reproduction is handled through the production of daughter plants and seeds. Alone or in groups, this plant definitely has the ability to draw the observer's eye.
