Amazon Sword
Amazon Sword, Echinodorus bleheri, is a South American native which until recently was called by the scientific name Paniculatus. The Amazon Sword is popular with beginning aquarist because unlike other Swords, it is easy to care for and has a fast rate of growth. Keeping with other Sword plants, the Amazon Sword is typically found as a centerpiece plant. The aquarium conditions for Swords should be slightly acidic with soft water. Reproduction is typically accomplished by enlarging the rhizome "root", however adventitious shoots growing off of the main plant is another tactic for propagation. The Amazon Sword is also known to produce flower structures and seeds as another means of reproduction.
