Temperament: Peaceful
Ease of Care: Easy
Diet: Herbivore, Omnivore
Native Waters: South America
The Albino Plecostomus is native to the waters of Rio Pacaya in Peru, South America. When kept as the only bottom dwelling fish, this Plecostomus is passive and a model aquarium dweller but as the fish grows if other bottom dwellers are present this fish can become territorially aggressive. While this fish is considered an herbivore, it is also a feeder of opportunity in the aquarium and will consume many foods that may reach the bottom of the tank. In nature, this fish tends to burrow in substrate when found in the wild, so if a fine loose substrate is provided in the aquarium it will often exhibit this behavior. This fish will tend to be most active during the twilight hours, making this the ideal time for feeding.
